About Jim Kealing

James H. Kealing, oldest of six children, was born in Michigan and raised in Kansas. Upon graduation from high school, he attended Kansas State University and graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in Economics in 1977. He later graduated with a joint Law degree and MBA from the University of Kansas in 1981 and passed the Kansas Bar Exam that same year. Jim passed the Uniform CPA exam on his first attempt in 1983, and joined the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants in 1984.

Jim started his career more than 30 years ago as a tax specialist for an international accounting firm in Kansas City, MO. He quickly advanced to the position of Tax Manager within two years, and was directly responsible for helping one corporate client save more than $1,000,000 in a dispute with the Internal Revenue Service.

Jim started Kealing Financial Services in 1989. For more than 25 years, Jim has counseled individual business owners, producers, actors and actresses, attorneys, working families, seniors, and many other clients to minimize taxes and maximize wealth. He has taught classes at College of the Canyons for many years, conducted numerous financial seminars in the community, and written financial commentary for national publications.

Jim now concentrates on helping clients prepare for retirement, and advises retirees regarding their estate, investments, taxes and insurance. He always keeps in mind that his client’s financial well-being depends on his advice. Jim never forgets that his senior clients don’t have a second chance to make up for bad investments. Mr. Kealing realizes that the trust his clients endow him with becomes his personal responsibility.

Jim and his wife Brenda, a successful local bookkeeper, live with their daughter, Katharine, in San Marcos, CA. He is active in his church and community. His hobbies are golf, traveling with his family, reading, writing, and walking.
